There are currently three different models of the iPad Pro across two generations.
The first generations of iPad Pro came in 9.7in and 12.9in screen sizes.
The 9.7in version looks and feels very much like the iPad Air 2 but it has a faster processor. The pro version has 4 speakers though!
The new iPad 2018 model was announced during an education-focused event in Chicago and it is a revision of the 2017 model, upgraded with the Apple A10 Fusion SoC and support for styluses such as Apple Pencil. The iPad is marketed towards educators and schools.
Model numbers for the iPad Pro first generation:
9.7in - A1673/A1674
12.9in - A1584/A1652

The second generation of iPad Pro's came in 10.5in and 12.9in versions, so the 9.7in version was dropped.
They also came in bigger memory sizes (up to 512GB).

12.9in - A1670/A1671

The third wave of iPad Pro's that came along are list below. Some models are updated:
